The Most Common Types of Plumbing Repairs

Every household experiences a problem with plumbing at some point. Unless you are experienced at DIY, it’s a sensible precaution to call a trained tradesman if you are experiencing difficulties. This way they can fix the fault with the minimum amount of disruption to you. Plumbing problems can vary greatly. To give you some idea of the types of faults that can cause issues in your bathroom, we list the most common issues here.

Dripping taps
When your tap starts to drip this isn’t just annoying, it can also waste water which can prove to be costly due to an increase in your water bill. Don’t ignore it if you notice your taps are dripping. Call a plumber and get them to fix the leaking tap.  You could attempt this yourself but we’d recommend calling an experienced plumber for your own peace of mind.

Leaking pipes
If you notice small pools of water in your bathroom and you haven’t taken a bath or a shower this could indicate a leaking pipe.  Pipes are prone to leaking during the cold winter months but it could also be the sign of joint failure. Obviously, this can be quite serious if left unattended and it also could cause fresh damage inside your home. Therefore, it’s best to fix this type of fault once it becomes apparent.

Slow water
Release the water in a basin or a bath by pulling the plug and if the water is slow to run away this could indicate a blockage in the waste water pipe. If you have tried using drain cleaners to no avail and you are worried about taking the pipe apart, call a plumber and let them clear the obstruction to leave your pipes in perfect working order.

Blocked toilets
This has to be one of the worst problems to experience in your bathroom. If you have ever tried to unblock a toilet you’ll know this isn’t for the faint-hearted. Don’t sweat it if your toilet will not flush, it has continually running water, or it seems to have some type of blockage. An expert plumber will soon have everything clear and working as it should.

Low water pressure
Older types of properties can struggle with low water pressure.  This will require further investigation to find the root cause of the problem.  A trickling showerhead could be fixed by a replacement unit for example, or you might have a leak somewhere that you haven’t spotted yet. Get in touch with a plumbing service who can tell you where the fault is, what you need to do to fix it, and how much it will cost you to put everything right.

These are just some of the more obvious problems you might experience in your bathroom. Should you require repairs or bathroom installations in Barnsley, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us here at Plumb by calling 01226 210704.
